Windstar Gives Back 2016

An Update on Windstar Gives Back 2016

Thanks to the generosity of our members and special friends, Windstar Gives Back raised over $66,000 at its Windstar Gives Back events last November. After expenses, the Windstar Club Charitable Foundation distributed $53,000 to 5 deserving charities that support kids at risk in the Bayshore area. Those organizations, the amounts they received and the use to which the funds are being put are as follows:

Boys & Girls Club of Collier County ($19,000):  Funds are being used to support the “Eagles” and “Gators” 5th grade programs and for member scholarships at the Boys & Girls Club campus on Davis Blvd.  Over 600 youth from the Bayshore area are currently being served.

Greater Y of Naples ($10,000):  Funds are being used to underwrite early childhood education scholarships for the children of needy parents in the Bayshore area who attend the NCEF Early Childhood Education Center in Lely.

Harry Chapin Food Bank ($9,000):  Funds are being used to support food distribution programs at 3 Bayshore area locations.  In 2016, the food bank conducted 29 food distribution events in East Naples, and served nearly 7,000 children.

Opera Naples ($5,000):  Funds are being used in Opera Naples’ Outreach and Education Program to provide music enrichment to children (including music support to Shadowlawn School).  Last year, Opera Naples reached over 20,000 students, many of them kids at risk.

The Shelter for Abused Women & Children ($10,000):  The Shelter is using these funds to expand its outreach among Bayshore area households.  The Shelter provides emergency shelter and transitional housing to victims of domestic abuse.

I trust you will agree that these are deserving organizations.
Thank you again for your support.
